The Reichenbach Waterfalls in Meiringen are amongst the best known waterfalls in Switzerland. Visitors from all around the world come to see the place where the famous detective Sherlock Holmes fought to his death with Professor Moriarty in 1891.
Opened in 1899, the funicular will take you 244 meters high into the mountains. Once arrived at the top, you will be able to enjoy the spectacular view over the waterfalls, as well as see the famous cliff, where the epic fight between the Detective and the Professor took place.
The Funicular is open from mid-May to October, and operates from 11:45 am to 5:45 pm (in July and August from 9 am to 6 pm).
About 25 minutes from the top of the resort, you can also go down the mountain on different trails, or take "Monster Trottinettes" (all-terrain scooters) for a quick ride down the mountain.
